After a well-rested night and breakfast, we continued to explore the Old Town of Bratislava. We went to have a some traditional pub-food in “Bratislava Flagship”-brewery/restaurant.

I tasted traditional Slovakian poppy seed pastry “Bratislavský rožok” and “Kofola”, a soft drink developed in Slovakia during the communist era as a competitor to Coca-Cola.

After spending time in the Old Town, we took a taxi to Bratislava Airport, where we rented a car and began our journey towards Banská Štiavnica via Nitra.
We rented a Peugeot 208 with a manual gearbox, which was a comfortable ride. However, our road trip was not without adventures, but I’ll write about that in another blog post later; fortunately, everything turned out well in the end.

Nitra Castle is one of Slovakia’s oldest castles, dating back to the 11th century. It sits atop a hill overlooking the city of Nitra and has served various purposes throughout its history, including as a fortress, royal residence, and religious center.
The castle features various architectural styles, including Romanesque, Gothic, and Renaissance. Nowadays, it’s a popular tourist destination, housing the Nitra Gallery, showcasing Slovakian art. Additionally, there’s a café inside the castle where you can enjoy a beautiful view with coffee and pastry.

After drinking coffees we continued our journey to Banská Štiavnica, so to be continued…
